1.Georges St-Pierre The current UFC Welterweight Champion, Georges is a 3rd Dan in Kyokushin and wears a Gi and headband adorned with Karate symbols before entering the UFC cage. GSP has often said that Karate had a huge impact on his life as a fighter and a person. He is considered the #2 pound for pound fighter in the world. 2. Lyoto Machida Former UFC LHW Champion. Lyoto is a 3rd Dan in Shotokan under his father Yoshizo Machida who is a 7th Dan and JKA chief instructor. After training in and receiving a black belt in BJJ, as well as training in Muay Thai and Sumo Wrestling; Lyoto founded his own system of Karate called Machida-Do. His fighting style is considered the most elusive in the UFC and he is the least hit fighter in the sport. 3. Anderson Silva The current UFC MW Champion received his first black belt at age 18 in Taekwondo.He is the promotion's longest reigning champion. Silva holds the longest winning streak and title defense streak in UFC history. UFC president Dana White has proclaimed Silva as the greatest fighter in the history of mixed martial arts, and he is considered the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world. 4. Chuck Liddell Former UFC LHW Champion, Liddell began studying Koei-Kan Karate at the age of 12. He got his black belt and won a national championship title in the style before joining John Hackleman at The Pit. Chuck has a 5th degree Pit black belt in Hawaiian Kempo. 5. Frank Mir Frank Mir is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and a former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion. Mir currently holds the record for most victories in the heavyweight division of the UFC with 14. Though he is known for his submission prowess and as a BJJ black belt, he is also a Kenpo Karate black belt and was introduced to martial arts by his parents who are both Kenpo Karate instructors. 6. Stephen Bonner Bonner earned his Taekwondo black belt at the age of sixteen. He is known for his iron chin, having his only TKO losses due to referee stoppage for a cut, and for never being submitted in MMA competition. He is a fan favorite due to his brawling nature. 7. Cung Le Cung is the former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion and is currently competing in the UFC. He is the former IKF Light Heavyweight San Shou World Champion with a professional San Shou record of 16-0. He also has an undefeated kick-boxing record of 17-0. Considered to have the best kicks in MMA, he is a Taekwondo black belt. 8. Pat Miletich Pat Miletich became the first UFC Welterweight Champion and UFC 16 tournament champion. After founding Miletich Fighting Systems, he has trained over 90 professional MMA fighters and more than 11 MMA world champions. He is a third degree black belt in Shuri-ryu karate. 9. Guy Mezger Guy is one of the original UFC fighters and made his debut at UFC 4, when the only rules were no eye gouging, biting, or groin shots. He is a highly decorated US Karate fighter who was twice the World Full-Contact Karate Champion. He went on to become the King of Pancrase world champion, and the UFC 13 LW tournament champion. 10.
