FITNESS EXERCISES FOR KARATE
Fitness exercises develop muscle tone and endurance. Using your imagination, relate these exercises to Karate moves. To become an effective in Karate, strength and power are necessary and derive from both mental and physical fitness.
Note: the following goals are suggestions only, assuming no health restrictions.
It is always a good idea to first get clearance from a physician before beginning a regimen of physical exercise.
KARATE FITNESS GOALS FOR CHILDREN
sit-ups> 40 in one minute
pull-ups> 10
push-ups> 30
jogging> 20 minutes, without stopping
jumping jacks> 200
KARATE FITNESS GOALS FOR ADULTS (AGES 16 AND UP)
sit-ups> 60 in one minute
pull-ups> 20
push-ups> 100
jogging> 45 minutes
jumping jacks> 500
KARATE FITNESS GOALS FOR SENIORS
sit-ups (or crunches)> 50
pull-ups (hanging)> 30 seconds
push-ups (on knees)> 25
jogging (jog walk)> 15 minutes
