Chumbae stance. Look to the left, fold :the right fist is on the right hip, palm up. The left fist is over (but not touching) the right fist, palm down.

                                                                                                            1) Step 1/4 turn to the left in a back stance to double block position: the right arm is in a high block; the left arm is in a closed fist knife hand block.

                                                                                                            2) a) The right hand swings to an upper cut; the left hand pulls to the right pectoral muscle.

                                                                                                            b) The left foot pulls to a cat stance, and the right hand extends outward (solar plexus level), while the left hand pulls back to the hip, folding for a side punch.

                                                                                                            c) The left leg steps out to a straddle leg stance at the same time as the left arm strikes with a side punch.

                                                                                                            3) Look to the right, fold: the left fist is on the left hip, palm up. The right fist is over (but not touching) the left fist, palm down. Step 1/2 turn to the right (while the left leg remains stationary) in a back stance to a double block position: the left arm is in a high block; the right arm is in a closed fist knife hand block.

                                                                                                            4) a) The left hand swings to an upper cut; the right hand pulls to the left pectoral muscle.

                                                                                                            b) The right foot pulls to a cat stance, and the left hand extends outward (solar plexus level), while the right hand pulls back to the hip, folding for a side punch.

The left foot slides up to the right foot on a slow count of two while both hands fold to the right hip (left fist on top, palm down; right fist on the bottom, palm up— similar to a high block fold).

                                                                                                            b) The fists switch to the left hip: the right fist is on top, palm down; and the left fist is on the bottom, palm up.

                                                                                                            c) Simultaneously: traditionally, the right leg side kicks at knee level focus (although instructors like to see this strike at solar plexus level or higher!) and the right arm strikes (focused at temple level) with a bottom fist.

                                                                                                            d) At the same time: look to the left; recoil the side kick; and fold for the left arm reinforced center chop.*

(This is an exception to the rule that “look, fold, and step are sequential; here, they occur simultaneously).

                                                                                                            e) Step back with the right foot and deliver a reinforced center chop as the left leg ends forward into a back stance.

                                                                                                            6) Fold for a right reinforced center chop. Step forward into a back stance (right leg forward) and chop.

                                                                                                            7) Fold for a left reinforced center chop. Step forward into a back stance (left leg forward) and chop.
